I'm trying to recover an excel file which comes from Macintosh. The file ist indicated als Microsoft Excel 2007 File with file encryption 40 Bit RC 4 (Office 97/2000) by Elcomsoft office password recovery. The file has a long file-open password so brute force is not an option. Is there any tool wich can decrypt the file using the 40 bit key instead of trying passwords? guaexcel can do this for 40 bit keys but unfortunatelly guaexcel cannot handle the xlsx file format.

GuaExcel cracked and decrypted my Excel file in 16 hrs on an AMD quad-core running Linux.
This app says what it does, and does what it says, in a very elegant and manageable way.
Bravo Pavel! My rating:5

Thanks to Pavel for this great little jewel and for the very fast response to my inquiries.
I tried and older free version and puchased the last one.

Very powerful software.
It took me just a couple of days on a Linux Biprocessor XEON 2.4 GHZ, to recover an excel file.
Thank you also to Paul for his prompt help in supporting me.
